Habbo for iPad, Habbo for iPhone, and Habbo for Android, known officially and universally as the Habbo app, is a Habbo client designed specifically to run the best on Apple's iOS and Google's Android mobile devices. Its soft launch on the Canadian iOS App Store was officially announced on April 4, 2014 through a news article. The initial need for this application was that Apple's iOS does not support Adobe Flash Player. This made Habbo unplayable on iOS devices (unless you used a special browser from the App Store). Another reason for the development of the app is Sulake trying to get Habbo supported on more platforms, and therefore easier to reach by the average user.
The new client first started out missing many core functions such as changing clothing, but at the same time adding some new features such as Infinite Zoom. Many of the core features were later added in.
The application was officially released worldwide for iOS devices on May 26, 2014, announced via a news article. Users who used the application on the first day received a special badge.
The application started out as being only for the iPad, however on December 19, 2014 Habbo staff officially announced an update to the application that allows iPhone/iPod users to use the application too. This update also caused the applications name to be changed from Habbo for iPad, to just Habbo.
Then on March 20, 2015 Habbo officially announced that the application will be coming to Android devices via a YouTube video uploaded to their YouTube channel.. The app was officially released on the Play Store on April 1, 2015.
Pre-Release Hype[edit | edit source]
Prior to the release of the application, Habbo staff uploaded a series of YouTube videos to the official Habbo channel. Each video contained a different aspect of Habbo that players are a part of. After the release of the application, the videos were made private.
A video was also uploaded to the Habbo YouTube channel for the announcement that the Habbo application would be coming to Android devices.

Gameplay in Habbo has been redefined specifically for the application. To walk anywhere, you tap where you want to go. If you want to click on another user, a furniture, or a pet, you have to tap and hold on what you want to choose. If there are multiple entities in the same spot you tapped and held, then a menu shows up where you can select the entity you intended to choose.
Many core features of Habbo have also been redesigned for the application. Changing clothes, browsing rooms, browsing your inventory all open up full-screen menus instead of just occupying a small space on your screen. The navigator was made more intuitive to accommodate the touch screen interface.
